Frequently Asked Questions

We offer coverage for the Actual Costs of any Medically Necessary Treatment your pet receives for a covered injury or illness during the policy period, up to the Per Incident Limit and Annual Benefit Limit shown on your Declarations Page.

Our basic pet insurance policy reimburses you for Medically Necessary Treatments, including:

  • Examinations: Physical exams, consultations, health inspections, office visits, virtual visits, and referral fees.
  • Surgical Treatments: Procedures required for covered injuries or illnesses.
  • Diagnostic Tests: X-rays, ultrasounds, CT scans, laboratory tests, and more.
  • Medical Supplies: Supplies required for procedures deemed Medically Necessary by your vet.
  • Hospitalization: Stays required by your vet for treatment.
  • Orthodontic Treatment: Due to a covered injury or illness.
  • Emergency Transportation: Ground pet ambulance transportation up to $100.
No, our insurance is a reimbursement-based plan, not a traditional co-pay type. This means you pay for your pet's medical expenses upfront, and we reimburse you for eligible costs. Depending on your policy, you can receive up to 100% back on covered medical expenses after your deductible is met. This approach ensures you get the care your pet needs without being restricted to specific networks or providers.

Dental coverage is not included in the basic plan but can be added separately with our Dental Coverage Endorsement. This optional add-on provides reimbursement for:

  • Endodontic treatments for dental injuries, such as root canals and crowns, when deemed medically necessary by a veterinarian.
  • Dental extractions that are medically necessary due to a covered injury or illness.

You can add this coverage at the start of your policy or during renewal. Please note that a waiting period may apply, as outlined in your policy details. If you decide to remove this coverage, you can do so at any time during the policy period.

This ensures your pet's dental health is protected alongside their overall wellness!

Yes, if you add the Alternative Therapies Endorsement to your policy, we will reimburse you for a variety of alternative and complementary therapies for your pet. This includes treatments such as:

  • Acupuncture
  • Chiropractic care
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Physiotherapy

These therapies must be performed by a veterinarian or under the direct supervision of veterinary staff. Additionally, coverage for veterinary consultations to diagnose and treat behavioral problems is available, up to an annual limit of $2,000.

The Alternative Therapies Endorsement can be added at the start of your policy or during renewal. A waiting period may apply, as outlined in your policy documents. If needed, you can remove this endorsement at any time during the policy period.

This option provides additional flexibility to address your pet’s unique health needs beyond traditional treatments!

Our policy does not cover pre-existing conditions. A pre-existing condition is defined as any medical condition that first occurred or showed clinical signs before the policy's effective date or during the waiting period.

However, we do make an exception for pre-existing conditions that are considered Cured. A condition is deemed cured if:

  • It is a temporary illness or injury.
  • It has been resolved without recurrent symptoms or ongoing treatment for at least 12 months and documented in writing by your Vet.

Please note that knee or ligament injuries, illnesses, and hip dysplasia are not considered curable and remain excluded.

This policy ensures fairness while helping you protect your pet's future health needs.

Yes, there are age restrictions for new enrollments:

  • Without the Wellness Endorsement: Pets must be at least 6 weeks old and no older than 15 years.
  • With the Wellness Endorsement: Pets must be at least 8 weeks old and no older than 15 years.

For renewal policies:

  • For renewal policies:
  • Pets over 15 years old are eligible for renewal as long as they were enrolled in the policy before their 15th birthday and have maintained continuous coverage.

These guidelines ensure comprehensive protection for your pet at every stage of their life.

Deductibles and coinsurance can be customized for each pet, allowing you to tailor the policy to fit your budget and coverage needs. However, all other coverages are set at the policy level and cannot be individually customized.

Plus, you’ll get a 20% discount on each additional pet after the first one, making it easier and more affordable to protect your entire furry family!
